What is the Gift-A-Long?
It’s an annual event held on Ravelry to promote and support all the wonderful independent knit and crochet designers out there! It consists of a sale period, running from November 19th at 8pm (US-EST) through November 27th at 11:59 pm (US-EST) , offering 25% off thousands of patterns, using coupon code giftalong2015 at the checkout. The code is ONLY valid during the sale period.
But the fun doesn’t stop there, the entire Gift-A-Long period runs for 6 weeks, during which time you can participate on Ravelry to win prizes from participating designers, just by working on any of the paid patterns offered by those designers, and by joining in the online games.
Who can take part?
Anyone! If you just want to shop using the pattern discount, use the code above during the sale period to buy select patterns from participating designers at 25% off. It’s the best chance of the year to snap up loads of fabulous patterns at great prices and stock up for future projects. Shop till you drop!
If you want to become more involved, to chat to other crafters and the designers and to be in with a chance of winning one of thousands of free pattern codes or even one of the physical prizes on offer (there are yummy yarns, kits, print patterns, stitch markers and other accessories), then take part in the knit/crochet-a-longs and the other threads in the Indie Design Gift-A-Long group on Ravelry.
Joining Ravelry is free, if you’re not already a member! Not only will it bring you all the great features that Ravelry has to offer, it will give you access to the Gift-A-Long group discussion boards where you’ll be able to find out more, chat and craft-a-long and take part in games to win prizes, not only with other crafters but with the designers who are taking part!
What is the discount on?
Each of the 335 participating designers has selected 5-20 of their designs which they are offering via Ravelry at 25% off during the sale period. Each participating designer has made a bundle of their sale designs visible at the top of their Ravelry designer page. You can see my discount bundle at the top left of my page here (for example).

What will you be making?
I am taking part and will be active in the GAL group not only as a designer to support anyone knitting one of my designs (and anyone else too!) but as a knitter. I have already chosen 2 projects I’ll be making during the GAL period (or at least start!) and here are my two chosen patterns to work from this year, so far. So you’ll be able to find me in the discussion threads for hats and cowls.
And here’s my yarn, waiting to leap on to the needles! Plus a giant faux fur pompom..
