Hashi Cardigan – done!

I finished up the pink cardigan I was making, a week or so ago now, but I haven’t had time to post it yet as I’ve had family visiting over Easter.

Hello, in my new knit!

This one I made in Stylecraft Special Aran with Wool, which comes in big 400 gram balls (so you don’t have to keep joining in new yarn) and it makes it not too pricey to knit a whole garment. The fabric covered buttons are from Daebak Supplies on Etsy.

The pattern is Hashi, by Vanessa Ewing. I actually started this way back in summer last year, did a few rows, then got fed up with the rows (which are very long at the start!) and let it lounge about in a project bag until recently. Then I dug it out and determined to finish it. Once I decided I would do it, then it didn’t take that long to get done, in the end!

There was a lot of finishing work involved, partly because the sleeves are worked flat and seamed as well as set in, but mostly because I’m picky and find it is worth spending time on the little details at the end. I reinforced both the button bands and the buttonholes with crochet, and I’m writing up a couple of blog posts to show you how I did that.
