Rows of knits…the garter stitch, this humble first stitch a knitter learns, to be forever treasured and revisited like a first love letter
Sometimes we forget about it, sometimes it is dismissed as boring (granted it does take a long time to grow!), or we can feel that it is too basic, but it produces the most wonderful springy versatile fabric that can give a lot of texture and structure to pieces. I like using it in patterns. Sometimes simple can be stunning.
Deann’s posting yesterday, showing us one of the first knitting patterns she ever used, with mitts made from garter stitch reminded me of how much I love it!
Here are my own two free patterns that are purely made from garter stitch, available right here on the website.
And here are a few other fabulous free finds, look what you can make with gorgeous garter stitch!
