Hello Everyone, How are you all doing? I am happy to say that I am getting better! I recently finished this WIP that I told you about a couple of weeks ago. This is the Tough Guy Toque from Team Fortress 2, a special request of my son’s. It was actually an easy knit once I had it worked out in my head how I would go about knitting it. I have not really knit many ear flap hats before, so that was a first for me. I also wanted it to look as much like the picture in the game as possible. I think it turned out pretty well. We had a few moments of me not wanting to work on it, due to my son not being completely happy with it. He does love it now, but he thinks I made it too long.. I’m thinking it is just right, with a little room to grow ;). It especially made my day when my husband’s friend walked through and seen Konrad wearing it and said he had to have one! That made me feel lots better.
For Konrad’s Tough guy Toque, he picked out the yarn from Hobby Lobby. It is their Baby Bee line of yarns: Baby Bee Baby’s Blue Sweet Delight and Baby Bee Baby Gold Sweet Delight. I used size 6 (4mm) Hiya Hiya 16in fixed circulars to knit this one, and held the yarn double through out. As shown in the WIP page, click here for the picture, I started at the top and knit this one top-down. I thought it would be easier to have the seamless look on the ear flaps this way. I left all stitches live toward the end, worked the ear flaps, and then worked all stitches to put the yellow around the edge. I knit a few rows of garter stitch near the end to let it curl some, but not too much.
